Cebu Pacific, a budget airline from the Philippines, is planning to place an order for 100 to 150 narrowbody passenger jets, a deal that could be worth up to $12 billion. This could potentially be the largest single aircraft order in the history of commercial aviation in the Philippines.

The airline's CEO, Michael Szucs, has announced that official proposals will soon be sent to Boeing and Airbus. Szucs stated that the order will not likely be divided between the two aircraft manufacturers and will be a "winner-takes-all" deal, going to the company that offers the best deal.

He emphasized that they have no preference for the winner and are looking for the best economic outcome for their passengers. Both Boeing and Airbus have until the end of 2023 to submit their proposals. With a vision to double its fleet by 2035, Cebu Pacific is preparing for a long-term travel boom in Southeast Asia post-pandemic. Szucs highlighted the strategic position of the Philippines within the ASEAN region and its potential to serve as a hub, enhancing connectivity among people in this region.
