GoodYear is to provide tires to Airbus A321XLR

Goodyear has been selected by Airbus to provide tires for the new A321XLR aircraft. The A321XLR is a new long-range variant of the popular A321neo family, and it is scheduled to enter service in 2024. Goodyear's tires for the A321XLR are based on the company's Flight Radial technology. This technology features a radial construction that provides better wear resistance and dimensional stability than traditional bias-ply tires. The Flight Radial tires also have a unique bead design that reduces weight and improves fuel efficiency.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Airbus to provide tires for its new A321XLR," said Octavian Velcan, Managing Director of OTR & Aviation EMEA at Goodyear. "Our Flight Radial tires are the most advanced aviation tires on the market, and they are perfectly suited for the A321XLR's long-range capabilities." The A321XLR is expected to be a popular aircraft with airlines, as it will offer a new level of efficiency and range for narrow-body aircraft. The aircraft will be able to fly up to 4,700 nautical miles, which will open up new markets for airlines.

Benefits of Goodyear Flight Radial Tires for A321XLR

  • Better wear resistance: The radial construction of Goodyear Flight Radial tires provides better wear resistance than traditional bias-ply tires. This means that the tires will last longer and require fewer replacements.
  • Dimensional stability: Flight Radial tires also have better dimensional stability than traditional bias-ply tires. This means that they are less likely to change shape under load, which can lead to improved handling and safety.
  • Reduced weight: The unique bead design of the Flight Radial tires reduces weight, which can improve fuel efficiency.
  • Improved performance: The combination of these features results in improved performance for the A321XLR, including better handling, safety, and fuel efficiency.
