Airbus collaborates with LanzaJet to increase sustainable aviation fuel production.


Airbus and LanzaJet have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the aviation sector. The MOU aims to advance the development of SAF facilities using LanzaJet's Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by over 70% compared to fossil fuels

SAF is considered one of the most immediate solutions to decarbonize aviation, with airlines, governments, and energy leaders recognizing it as a crucial solution to decarbonize aviation. LanzaJet's ATJ technology uses low-carbon ethanol to create SAF that reduces emissions by over 70% compared to fossil fuels.

The collaboration will explore technological developments to enable Airbus aircraft to fly up to 100% SAF by the end of the decade. The entire ecosystem is crucial for increasing the uptake of SAF, and both companies will explore business opportunities with airlines and other stakeholders worldwide.
