Go First, Banned from Operating Flights in Delhi for Two Hours

Go First, a budget airline in India would halt flights from Delhi on April 1 for two hours. The choice was taken in response to a directive from aviation regulators, who had previously fined the airline for a security breach. Recently, Go First has made the news a few times for breaking operational rules and being threatened with punishment by Indian authorities.

For two hours on April 1 between 12:00 and 14:00, Go First has been fined and directed to cease operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The airline was found to have violated security standards by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Authority (BCAS) in September of last year following an incident involving a flight from Delhi to Mumbai.

It's not the first time that Go First has been fined for violating regulations. According to tweets made in January by numerous travelers on the airline's Bengaluru-Delhi route, the plane allocated to the flight allegedly took off from Bengaluru with more than 50 people still on the shuttle bus. One of the travelers even shared a photo of his boarding pass, which displayed all of the pertinent flight information, including the seat that was allotted to him. The airline was requested to explain this by India's aviation watchdog, the DGCA, who later penalized it $12,250 for the infraction.

When they arrived at the airport in October of last year, some customers who had reservations on a Go First aircraft between Hyderabad (HYD) and Delhi (DEL) were astonished to learn that there was no such trip. Even more problematic was the fact that despite there being no such flight shown on the departure board that day, the tickets issued to the passengers were still valid with active PNRs. Go First was partially to blame for keeping the flight status active on its website, even though the final explanation was a breakdown in communication between the travel agent and the passengers.
