On July 12, 2022, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, laid a capsule with a message to posterity at the construction site of the new terminal of the Grozny Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov International Airport. It is assumed that the implementation of the project will make it possible to actively develop new flight routes from the capital of the Chechen Republic and serve up to 1.5 million people annually. The airport will also receive a second runway.
“On Tuesday, in a solemn ceremony, we launched the construction of the Grozny Airport international terminal named after the First President of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov,” he shared the news in his telegram channel Ramzan Kadyrov. - A new terminal building with a total area of 40 thousand square meters with an additional runway will be erected without demolition of the existing terminal. This decision was made to avoid inconvenience for passengers and employees of the air harbor. A new section of the access road will also be built, which will connect the terminal with the existing building.”
Referring to the architectural appearance of the building, the head of Chechnya noted that the appearance of the new terminal is based on the symbolism of the Islamic worldview and will have the shape of a crescent. “Creative landscape solutions and original lighting of the architectural structure will not leave anyone indifferent,” Ramzan Kadyrov believes.
Previously reported that the Government of the Russian Federation will allocate 4.7 billion rubles from the federal budget for the construction of a new passenger terminal in Grozny. In 2020, 97.5 million rubles were allocated for the design of the terminal; in 2021, the project was not funded. For the main part of the work, starting from 2022, 790 million rubles were allocated from the budget, in 2023 - 1.3 billion rubles, in 2024 - 2.5 billion rubles.
