Washington extends sanctions against Iran's Mahan Air

The US Department of Commerce announced the extension of sanctions against the Iranian airline "Mahan Air", and a number of companies in various countries that it previously cooperated with the airline.

Official documents from the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security released Friday said sanctions against 12 entities will be extended for 180 days.

The sanctions ban the sale of any US aviation equipment or spare parts to those companies.

Among the entities affected by the sanctions are companies registered in UK, Jordan, Iraq, the UAE, Syria, Turkey and France.

The United States had accused Mahan Air of cooperating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and transporting weapons on its behalf, but the company rejected the American accusations.
